solve "I multiplied twice my age by 4, added 20, divided by 2, and then subtracted twice my age. What number did I finally get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Twice your age plus 10 years

how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you say "i multiplied twice my age by 4" it means (with age = x) 2x * 4 which is 8x, then you say "added 20" so 8x + 20, then "divided by 2" which is 4x + 10, then "subtracted twice your age" (2x) and 4x + 10 - 2x = 2x + 10 "twice your age plus 10 years"

thank God there's people like you in the world. I had it, but when I divided by 2, I only divided the 20, not the 8x by 2 also. Thanks

It's my pleasure :)
