As the acceleration due to gravity varies with higher altitudes and varies with the depth and if the hole is digged in the earth with the length half the radius and a ball is projected from the earth with length equal to the radius of earth, will the acceleration due to gravity change??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes the acceleration due to gravity changes as the ball comes down it decreases...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it changes because the force of gravity varies with distance. Recall \[F=GMm/r2\]From Newton's law we know that the force equals to mass time acceleration. If we divide both sides with m we get the graviational acceleration \[F/m=GM/r2\]Therefore as the ball descends it falls more rapidly.
