When simplifying expressions with exponents you take each term (so any parts of the expression involving multiplication and division, terms are seperated by addition and subtraction), and you combine the exponents of similar bases by adding together the exponent when you are multiplying and subtracting when you are dividing. ie \[x ^{2}\times x ^{3}=x ^{5}\]
