An iamb is a poetic foot consisting of one unaccented syllable and one accented syllable in that order; hoo-RAY. Pentameter is a line of five poetic feet. Therefore, an iambic pentameter poem is one in which each line consists of five feet (10 syllables), start with an unstressed syllable, and alternates between stressed and unstressed syllables through out the rest of the line. His HOUSE/is IN/the VILL/age THOUGH. Shakespearean sonnets a good examples. Of iambic pentameter.
