OpenStudy (xkehaulanix):

Let x = (2x1 matrix), v1 = (different 2x1 matrix), and v2 = (another 2x1 matrix), and let T:R^2->R^2 be a linear transformation that maps e1 into x1v1 + x2v2. Find a matrix A such that T(x)is Ax for each x. I honestly have no clue as to where to begin. Any suggestions?

Haha yeah, that's how I feel too. That's the question pretty much straight from the book.

watch khan academy videos

Eh...it's a custom book for my school, but I believe the original source was "Linear Algebra and Its Applications." I would look up the solution guide, but it's an even numbered question. I'll try looking up those videos another time; thanks for the reference!
