The width of a rectangle is 2 less than twice its length. If the area of the rectangle is 83 cm^2, what is the length of the diagonal?

Is there a formula for finding the length of a diagonal?

Hi, you still there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes still trying to figure this out i think i ended up with \[x=(2\pm \sqrt{668})/4\] then just plug that into 2x-2 because its 2 less than twice x, do i use the Pythagorean theorem to then find the diagonal?
