A. Computer capacity is often measured in bits and bytes. A bit is the smallest unit, which is a 1 or 0, in the computer's memory. A byte is 2^3 bits. A megabyte is 2^20 bytes. how many bits are in a megabyte? B. A gigabyte is 2^30 bytes. How many megabytes are in a gigabyte? How many bits are in a gigabyte?

OpenStudy (phi):

they want you to multiply (or divide in B) using the exponent rules

I still do not understand what I need to write.

OpenStudy (phi):

what would you write if it said "a byte is 8 bits" a megabyte is 1000000 bytes, How many bits in a megabyte?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is here : http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/calculate/ 8bits to a byte 2^3 (2*2*2) so multiply 2^30 *8 (or 2*2*2) etc
