What is the slope of the line which passes through (4, 7) and (2, 3)?

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

\[m={(y2-y1) \over (x2-x1)}\] for slope of line passing through (x1,y1) , x2,y2) just substitute in it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let us assume there is an unknown point (x,y) between these two known points (7-y)/(4-x) = (y-3)/(x-2) Cross-multiply and simplify to get y = 2x-1 To check if this equation of the line is correct, plug in the x and y values of each of the known points to see if the equation holds If it holds then the slope of the line is 2 (coeffecient of x)

\[answer is 2\]
