a 25 ft ladder sits against a wall. if the base of the ladder is 7 ft form the wall, will you be able to reach a window 22 ft up the wall? if yes, how many feet would you have to spare? if no, how many feet short would you be?

i know u set up a triangle and and the base is 7 ft.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

this is pythagoras' theorem, finding the shorter side.... the hypotenuse is 25 and a short side is 7 |dw:1328039510057:dw| so 25^2 - 7^2 = x^2 if x > 22 then the ladder reaches the window
