Grandson in 3rd grade. been a long time for me doing equivalent fractions. know what they are but if u have 3/5 how do u find the the equal number mof 15ths????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

an equal number of 15ths would be 9/15 because whatever you do to the bottom number on 3/5, you have to do to the top number, so that would be 3 times 5 to get 15 and 3 times 3 to get 9, which then you get 9/15

OpenStudy (precal):

just look for the same number to multiply to the fraction. In this case, 3/5=?/15 5 times 3 is 15 so multiply 3 times 3 and the numerator is 9 you are really multiplying the original fraction by 3/3 which is 1
