red , green, and blue light rays each enter a drop of water from the same direction. which light rays path through the drop will bend the most, and which will bend at least? why?

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

...this is what you learn in biology? My best guess is that the shortest ray bends the least and the longest bends the most. or maybe its the other way around. *knows I'm not helping* I think a drop of water would act like a prism...like how rainbows form...@.@

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, the ray that bends more will have a larger refractive index ,which means a smaller angle of refraction! so taking this concept into account-the answer is-blue will bend more, followed by green, then the ray which bends the least is red!(so ,it has a larger angle of refraction)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the blue light bends more than the green which bends more than the red light. This is because the blue light has a higher frequency and a shorter wavelength than the other colours. See the following link, which looks like the cover art of the classic album "Dark side of the moon" by Pink Floyd. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dispersive_prism
