Mark and Nancy are making punch for a party and are using two types of juice: pineapple and papaya. The total number of quarts must be more than 9 but less than 15. They should use at least 4 quarts of each type. We want to find out how many quarts of each juice they should buy. List any 3 ordered pair solutions for the system of equations which represent this problem.
Second part is : Mark and Nancy are making punch for a party and are using two types of juice: pineapple and papaya. The total number of quarts must be more than 9 but less than 15. They should use at least 4 quarts of each type. We want to find out how many quarts of each juice they should buy. First graph the system below and describe the shape of the solution area.
Third Part is : Mark and Nancy are making punch for a party and are using two types of juice: pineapple and papaya. The total number of quarts must be more than 9 but less than 15. They should use at least 4 quarts of each type. We want to find out how many quarts of each juice they should buy. Pick one ordered pair solution for this problem and tell what each number represents.
point to note : Is it possible to take fractional quarts of either mango or papaya ?...Generally no! So we proceed to find sent of ordered pair of integers (a,b) with a being the number of quarts of 1st fruit and b being the second.. fix a=4 , u will get b= 6,7,8,9,10 i.e possible pairs may be (4,6) , (4,7) .....etc
then u can fix a=5 you will get b = 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 a=6 will give you b= 4,5,6,7,8 a=7will give you b= 3,4,5,6,7 and so on u can do upto a=10 (why? because b has to be atleast 4 so to keep ur sum a+b less than 15 you CANNOT go beyond a=10)
What goes with what?
say a is the number of pineapple quarts and b , the number of papaya quarts according to ur problem ..so if u need to find any solution , then any one of the pairs will do..say I choose (4,6) ; meaning a=4 and b=6
