What are the names of partitions created for Linux?

Ext2, ext3 or ext4. Ext 2 is the oldest, followed by ext3, followed by ext4

@stevo those are file systems. but @mominanisar what do you mean partition created? can you explain more? :)

You can control what partitions are made. The only mandatory ones are the root ( "/" ) partition and the swap partition ( for swapping/paging out sections of memory ). After that, it depends on what you're setting the filesystem up for.
