what is the limit on the number of folders that can be added to a library on the computer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well there is not nothing that regulates that unless your Parental controls blocks it. And the Hard Drives. The Avg Hard Drive can hold millions a netbook little to none!

OpenStudy (rsmith6559):

That would be determined by the file system type, but in these days of tremendous file systems, it would/should be on the order of 2^64. BTW, folders are just a type of file, and the max value would be for files and folders.

There can be limitations on the number of parent folders but this may depend on the operating system you are using. Can you give more details please and see this for more information, http://www.andyrathbone.com/2009/11/16/whats-this-50-folder-limit-to-windows-7s-libraries/
