For those of you in high school or college, what are some of your favorite books?

The classics are still my fav - all the old literature ones. Mark Twain, Elli e Weisel, L.M. Montgomery

My favorite short story is the Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James Thurber. I read that story in HS (when I didn't appreciate English as much), and fell in love with it during another class last year.

I loved the series His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman. We're reading The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver in school and I'm enjoying it. The Mysterious Benedict Society, The Chronicles of Narnia, etc. are some of my other favorites. And, of course, you can't go wrong with Harry Potter.

mine happen to be House Rules by Jodi Picoult or Handle With Care by her as well. Another is the Outsiders and I'm at the moment reading Crime and Punishment.
