can someone explain to me how to solve 5x^2-21x-20/5x^2-16x-16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factor: ((x-5)(5x+4))/((x-4)(5x+4)) cancel out 4x+4 (x-5)/(x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*5x+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think you mean how to symplify or do the division.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you understand how to solve the problem? Can you do a similiar problem by yourself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can do problems such as : 4x+3/5 but when it becomesmore than that it becomes confusing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that was just an example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if you have something like \[\frac{4x+3}{x+5}\] you have problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i've never done a problem like that in my lessons, i've had things like x^2-15x+56/ x-7 or with more terms

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

practice factoring, if you are good at factoring those problems become easy
