Is aurora borealis cause by some stellar wind getting through earths magnetic field?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_borealis If you want to know more about them, take Walter Lewin's OCW 8.02!

Im not sure im qualified to take that course yet, but i can give it a try!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Though its a college level course, you will understand it with some basic knowledge from high school. Otherwise just take the Aurora lecture ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. I want all the lectures. How many are there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Walter is a legend.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes indeed. 36 total! You can find them here http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/physics/8-02-electricity-and-magnetism-spring-2002/video-lectures/ Best of luck watching them, your life wont be the same ever again! ;)
