Confused about this question. find the inverse of the function: f(x)=(1/2)x+5 I got the answer: f^-1(x)=(x-5)/(1/2) but that answer doesn't show as an option on my worksheet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The (x-5)/(1/2) can simplify to 2(x-5) or 2x-10, which is the most simplified version of the answer.

Ahh okay..yeah that answer is on my worksheet...but where did you get the 2 from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So dividing by a number is the same as multiplying it by its reciprocal, or 1 divided by that number, and because 1/(1/2) = 2, the equation becomes 2(x-5). Hope that helps!

yes it makes perfect sense thank you!!!
