RC all high ranked mathematic group members (30-100lvl): What are the stand out perks to getting an college education in mathemtics? Career opportunities, experiences, and so on....?
No one rushing to answer this one. guess that might be saying something about what an education in mathematics will get you.
Although you may get some very high paying jobs, its not very fun doing math all your life :P
and what is your experience with math?
I imagine it would be quite fun and I don't imagine that the job market is very good for math majors.
Well, I like math, its one of my favorite subjects; however math projects all my life would be fairly boring for me...
Yes, its very hard getting jobs in mathematics as they require a very high levels of skill and there aren't that many...
Well, are you speaking about pure mathematics & analysis, or engineering & design math?
I suppose both but I am sure the latter has a better job market
So what do you intend on doing for your studies?
Yes, latter has a much better job market. For the former, some professions include statistician, actuary, computer scientist, & advanced science researcher.
Currently, I'm only a Junior in High School, but I'm looking towards medicine for now.
well good luck. . The only reason I asked this question is because there seems to be a big blur of what to expect after college. After a while the academic driven atmosphere seems to clutter your perception of what to expect after school. This then messes with goals and aspirations. It would be nice to get a perspective from some professionals but it seems to lack everywhere.
Yeah, you should ask college professors or try to find professionals somehow and get their point of view on this.
Yeah the medical field has a reliable job outlook, maybe :(), but for some the idea of living under the giant companies that rule the medical field is distasteful.
I doubt I would get much of an input my "busy" professors.
Hehe, professors are so lazy... Most of them aren't really that busy...
I know! Bums..
Well, think carefully about what you want to do. Ask many people, get different perspectives, do more research, etc. I wish you good luck on your future :D
Thanks thanks thanks. luck to you as well.
