What is mod? I think it's also called modulate.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

In math, MOD = Modulus. In other words, it's "Absolute Value". On Openstudy MOD is generally referred to Moderators. Which one are u referring to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, modulate im pretty sure. not moderator, so what is modulus?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

there is also a 'modular arithmetic' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modular_arithmetic and the modulo operation (which is about finding remainders basically) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modulo_operation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the problem was something like 17mod5+16mod10 or something like that

OpenStudy (turingtest):

17mod5=2 because 17/5 has a remainder of 2 16mod10=6 because 16/10 has a remainder of 6 so 17mod5+16mod10=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks. Why did they create that? Seems kinda pointless

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I have pretty much no idea, but I have seen myininaya use it for encryption, so ask her if you get the chance :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also mod is used for unversal +ive ........gor eg. mod symbolos lxl..... hence l-36l=36
