Let f(x) = sqrt of x. Compute the difference quotient for f(x) at a = 7 with h = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x) = \sqrt x,\] what is relation of a ,h to the f(x) ?!?!!?!?!?!?!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk, a and h are not x are they?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

could you clarify what they mean by difference quotient?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea, its a homework problem, I am just going to do it in the morning thanks for the help you guys :)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

nevermind, i'll assume its talking about finding slope or intro to derivatives --> [f(a+h) -f(a)]/h a=7, h=4 --> (f(11) -f(7)]/4
