i have no idea how to do this, i find factoring trinomials very difficult. Factor completely: x2 + 10x + 24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is (x+6)(x+4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks. could you please explain to me how to work it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what two numbers when you multiply them give you 24 and when you add them give you 10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4*6=24 4+6=10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 + 10x + 24=> x^2+6x+4x+24=> x^2+4x+6x+24=> x(x+4)+6(x+4)=> hence..... (x+4) (x+6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it bridge...??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry i was busy with something. but yes i got it. thanks alot.
