Which ordered pair does not satisfy the system? y <-2x + 9 and y > 3/4 x - 2 A. (3, -2) B. (2, 3) C. (-1, 4) D. (-1, -1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plug in the values of x and y for each of the systems of equations. (3,-2) -2<-2(3)+9 -2<3. That works. -2>(3/4)(3)-2 -2>(1/4) That doesn't work, so (3, -2) is out. (2,3) 3<-2(2)+9 3<5 That works. 3>(3/4)(2)-2 3>(-1/2) That also works, so (2,3) is okay. (-1,4) 4<-2(-1)+9 4<11 That's true. 4>(3/4)(-1)-2 4>(-11/4) That works too, so (-1,4) works. (-1,-1) -1<-2(-1)+9 -1<11 True. -1>(3/4)(-1)-2 -1>(-11/4) That works, so (-1,-1) is in. The only one that doesn't work is the first one, then.
