If it is a function, that means for every x value there is only one y value, so an example would be (2,3) (4,5) (6,7) where no x value has more that one y value corresponding to it. In a relation, there can be more that one y value for an x value. An example would be (2,3) (4,5) (2,6) where the x value 2 has two y values; 3 and 6.
