What is a workstation?

A work station is a computer that usually has more resources than a typical home PC. It would have more memory, more cores, faster proccessors and a better video card depending on the requirements. For example, you may be able to create a 3D movie on your home PC, but a Workstation for creating them would have 24GB RAM, RAID array of disks, Render engines as well as high level graphics card($$$$).
