Given that x and y are positive integers, solve x^y = y^x

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

can i do the obvious one...x=1, y=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to find all the solutions.Of course 1 is obvious.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wouldn't all solutions be on a line of y=x?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

wait can x=y, if so then any number would work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 and 2 is another.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=y is one . What about x>y?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

the only solution is 4 and 2, at least for numbers up to 1000
