how do you identify the theme of the story?
what is the overall message of the story or what is the author trying to get across to the reader? i would be able to help more if i knew the actual story or book
A theme is an idea that is repeated constantly throughout a literary piece. For example, I can say that the theme of race appears within Heart of Darkness because (insert examples from the text here). I don't want to bore you with that short novel, but it's really foggy. Anyways, there are many themes within a story. Here are a few more examples: Gender, Sex, Love, Death, Fear, Masculinity, Femininity, Class, Communication. Now these themes are big bubble themes. What you want to do is to figure out the big picture first, and then narrow your ideas down to something more specfic. Maybe if you shared a story that you are working on we can help further.
its very simple. read a story,,,try to feel one main thing that you really find heart touching or very appealing.. its the theme ! and moral toooo... for me it works :)
