Pharmaceutical prescription problem: A child who weighs 61lbs. has an elevated temperature. For hyperthermia in children, the dosage of acetaminophen isa 10 to 15 mg/kg every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 5 doses per day. What is the maximum daily dose of acetaminophen that can be taken by the child?

First convert 61 lb to kg. 61 lb = 27.7 kg. 15 mg/kg every 4-6 hrs is the max dose (up to 5 times a day). so... 15x5 = 75 mg/kg/day is the max daily dose. 75 mg/kg/day * 27.7 kg = 2.078 g/day Hope this helps. Don't use it for actual medical use! :)
