when x>1, which expression has a value lss than x a. 2.5x to the 2nd ower b. x to the 3rd power+ 4 c. square root of x - 2 d. square root of x +x
The answer is C.
why is that
Consider whatever number you choose for any value of x>1. If you pick 5 and subtract 2 from it, you'll get 3. If you pick 20 and subtract 2, you'll get 17. Any number you pick will always be less than x because you're subtracting from x. Finding the square root of a number will also make a number smaller, but as you can see, it doesn't always make it smaller than x, like in answer D. If you pick 2, then the square root of x+x is also 2, and 2 isn't less than 2, it's equal, so you know it must be wrong. I can help clarify anything if it isn't clear.
omg thanks you it maes alot of sense now and yes that would be so greatfull if you help me with tthat :)
