Great! As a ESL student, I am always confused about the following type of sentence. What is the right verb after 'it' = " I was told it created/create/creates a problem..."

If you're speaking of something in the past, "I was told [that] it created a problem." If you're speaking of something still current, "I was told [that] it creates a problem."

The "that" is optional.
