The sides of a triangle are in the ratio of 1:2:2 and the perimeter of the triangle is 15 feet. The length of the shortest side is 2.5 feet 3 feet 5 feet 7.5 feet

3 feet

did you get why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the ration is 1:2:2, hence we can say the actual lengths are x, 2x and 2x where x is the common factor which got cancelled out at the time of deriving the ratio. Perimeter = sum of length of all sides = x + 2x + 2x = 5x (this is given as 15) hence, 5x = 15 => x = 3 Now, since the smallest of all sides is of length x hence, smallest side has a length of 3 m

thankyou
