For use in DC Circuit calculations, can a battery be modeled as a capacitor?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I don't see how because the voltage across the battery is constant (the EMF) whereas the voltage across a charging capacitor increases with time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

TT is as usual correct. A battery has an internal source of energy that supplies a potential difference between its terminals, whereas a capacitor *stores* energy (as opposed to generating energy).

OpenStudy (kainui):

Now suppose you have only a capacitor and a resistor in a circuit? Can you measure the voltage and current?
