I feel lost because I think I suck at the chain rule and related rates. I just need a way to clarify basics, simply tricks and procedures.
chain rule is something you should master because you will use it over and over and over again throughout your math career

you really just need to get u substitution down for the chain rule. you will use "chain rule" - u substitution in cal 2, cal 3 differential cal. Spend the time to really understand it
related rates... eh.. just do enough so that you can do well on the test :0 you won't see that much optimization in the future, so don't fret about that.
