need help am confused! (-16X)^3 (18x)^2

OpenStudy (msmr):

Is that supposed to be: \[(-16x)^{3}*(18x)^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (msmr):

Okay, so that would become: \[(-16)^{3}*x^{3} *(18)^{2}*x^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok (-16)^3 would become -4096, (18)^2 would become 324, the xs would combine to make x^5, and thats where im kinda stuck :-/

OpenStudy (msmr):

okay, so then you multiple like terms - that is, -4096*324, which I believe is -1327104, and then you multiply that by the x^5: -1327104x^5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks i was confused on whether to multiply or add for some odd reason :)

OpenStudy (msmr):

it's all good, exponents trip everyone up!
