If the perimeter of a square is 3x, what is the area of the square in terms of x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Each side is (3x)/4 or 0.75x so the area is (0.75x)^2 or 9x/16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perimeter of square: sum of all sides. A square has 4 sides, obviously. So each side would be: 3x/4 Then take square of the side to find area: \[(3x/4)^{2}\] Which gives us, \[9x ^{2}/16\] That is the final answer.
