my teacher said that during refraction by a glass slab, the light bends because in glass its speed is reduced and so as to take the normal time, it tends to cover shorter distance and thus bends by certain angle...... but in case of a prism, it goes towards the base of the prism however in this case its path is the longer one......please help me to solve this problem.....
contd.... like in the diagram AB is the path of the refracted ray and AC is its usual undeviated path. here AB<AC and thus light travel along AB but in prism, it trvels along ST while it is clear that SU<ST. here why it doesnt move along SU ......
i,m not good in physics ,but i think how about using hygein's principle
Maybe your teacher is referencing Fermat's principle of least time?
