What are the pros and cons of cloning endangered animals?

Pro, you get more of that animal! Con, you get much less genetic diversity within the species, making it more susceptible to diseases. Also, if it is endangered because we are killing too many of its kind or we destroy the natural habitat, you have not addressed the root of the problem and the only end product might be a ligher consciense for us humans. It might be a possible stop gap meassure to prevent extinction at a critical state though.
