If f(x) = 7x – 12, what is f^–1(x) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inversing something basically means you just make it a fraction with your number being the denominator, numerator is 1... f(x) = 7x – 12 f^–1(x) = (1/7)x-(1/12)

thanks:)

hey

OpenStudy (anonymous):

quiz time, what is the inverse of 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, do you knwo what a numerator and denominator is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes.... denominator bottom numerator top part of fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct, if you have the number 2, it is the same thing as 2/1, correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you flip 2/1, you get 1/2, right? well, flipping it is taking the inverse of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or, f(x)=number.... f(x) inverse = 1/number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey sorry im doing an exam
