What are the downsides of Object-Oriented programming?
You have to fully understand the basic principles of Object-Oriented programming to use it properly. Otherwise it often ends in a mess.
Go for it! You have nothing to loose. I would quit my job on the hour if I was forced to do non OOP (Object Oriented Programming)
Me too!
What's so great about OO anyway? The way I've mostly encountered it, it's just similar to C structs.
it's very hard to think of classes :/
C++ classes are the same as structs except that they offer access controls. Take a good look at your web browser. The buttons are objects, the menu, it's submenus and their menu items are all objects. The text boxes are objects. You're going to go to arbitrary sites, that will display arbitrary content, who knows when you'll press a button, or use a menu. How will you implement this without objects?
