A man has 6 kids - 2 boys and 4 girls. On his Will, it states the boys get double the amount the girls get, but each gender gets an equal amount. How much (in percent) does each child get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets take b amount for a boy and g amount for a girl then, 2b=4g b=2g then, 100/6 % per girl 100/6*2% per boy 16.67% per girl 33.33% per boy

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

that adds up to more than 100% though? each gender gets exactly half: 2 boys -> 50% split it 2 ways , each boy gets 25% 4 girls -> 50% split it 4 ways, each girl gets 12.5% and because there are twice as many girls the boys each get double
