I was studying this fee structure, for my college: Fee structure for the academic year 2011-2012 Admission fee: (non-refundable) Rs. 65,000/- Security deposit: (refundable) Rs. 15,000/- Tuition fee (non-refundable): (3 subjects + GP) Rs. 15,750/- Lab fee (for each lab): Rs. 2,500/month Art overhead: Rs. 2000/month Extracurricular activity fee: Rs. 1500/month I want to ask: 1. What is a GP? 2. Is the tuition fee not payable each month?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GP stands for General Practitioner. (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But that's in Medicine only right?

OpenStudy (earthcitizen):

Grade point ave

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Probably general purpose or similar to cover overhead not included in the specific subject tuition fees. Tuition is generally required in advance so therefore not a monthly payment, and the school has probably made a committment to the teachers so needs to make sure that funds will be available to cover salaries etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO the tuition fee needs to be paid only once?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once in a year?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Probably once per term or semester, or year if that is the length of a "subject". Try contacting the school or look again on their website.

OpenStudy (jagatuba):

Yeah in this context I would have to agree with Cryptic, general purpose or similar makes sense. It is a generic umbrella to cover costs that are associated with tuition, but are NOT tuition.
