One way is to recognize that triangle CDF is a special 45-45-90 right triangle which has side ratio of 1:1:sqrt2 CF=BE BE can be found by using pythagorean theorem --> BE = sqrt(13^2 -5^2) = 12 Therefore the side lengths of triangle CDF are 12:12:12sqrt2
