should the U.S. convert to the standard system of measurement used by therest of the world?

should'nt we just be us a leader no follower

OpenStudy (chriss):

Of course we should change over. The fact is that the metric system just makes a lot more sense than the imperial system. Changing over isn't about leaders and followers anyway. We didn't come up with he system, it came over with the people who colonized this country. It will take some significant adjustment to make the move, and honestly, even I would probably resist a bit just because I'm so used to the measurements we have, but there are so many flaws and units that were so arbitrarily derived that the system is overly and unnecessarily complex. Everything in the metric system is based units of 10, or in the case of temperature, a range based on the freezing and boiling points of water. Obviously for anyone learning the system from scratch, i.e. kids in school, the system is going to make a lot more sense and be easier to learn.
