Look at each quoted verb and say what kind of meaning it expresses. Is it a thought, a feeling, a fact or a repeated action? 1. I "believe" it's the right thing to do. (My guess: thought) 2. I'm hungry. I "want" something to eat. (My guess: Feeling) 3. It's ok. I understand your problem. (My guess: thought)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think they are all thoughts. I think of feelings as emotions and wanting something to eat is just your stomach or whatever sending a message to your brain that you're hungry which turns into the thought "I want something to eat" But in a way they could also all be feelings. Or even facts for that matter. I don't know the point of the question. I assume this is for school?

This is my homework. College homework. I have to identify the simple present verb.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not familiar with this approach to identifying the simple present, but I'd say your answers are correct, in the context of how verbs such as these are generally spoken of with respect to grammar. Philosophically, or perhaps biologically, I think dgo is correct. The division between "thought" and "emotion" is never so sharp. But that's another matter, entirely beyond the scope of an assignment such as this.

In case it wasn't clear, when I said I don't know the point of the question I didn't mean your question, I meant the question that your class asked of you.

Thanks for the help guys, I just found out that the answers are given at the back of the book. Hahahaha I'm not going to copy them, but at least I can check my answers from there. LOL.
