Can 3-(8 times sq root 2) over 15 be simplified to be just 8 times sq root 2 over 5? For some reason my math book didn't simplify that in an answer.

Cause if so, If Simplified, I got 
$$3- 8x^2/15$$

Differently, like 3- then in parentheses 8squareroot symbol 2 parenthes then all that over 15.

Also, is it normal for teachers to make you memorize all the identity formulas in trig?
