4. Plot three points and draw the line that has the following parametric equations: x = t y = -3t + 6 z = t - 3 Show each step of your process

OpenStudy (amistre64):

start from 0,6,-3 and your slope is then <1,-3,1>

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or you can simply find 3 values of t, plot the points, and draw a line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that all?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im assuming you understand my directions ... you do right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a little bit it would be nice if you could further explain

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i can, but i have to know where it is that you need the help at. Is it plotting? is it finding values to plot?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha both

OpenStudy (amistre64):

plotting in 3space is the same concept as plotting on a normal xy graph, you just have an extra move to make

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the extra move is simply up or down depending on the value for "z"

OpenStudy (amistre64):

finding points is the same way you would find them for any given equation; pick a value for "t" to find the values for (x,y,z) and plug them in to define a point

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when t=0 x = t = 0 y = -3t + 6 = 6 z = t - 3 = -3 (0,-6,3) is a point in the line in 3space go 0 on your x, -6 on your y and 3 on your z directions

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i misplaced my - dint i :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats all i need to know to answer my question?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes, that is all you need to know; applying it is up to you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yw, and good luck
