Then attack #3. How is the lamp a system. How does that system work? Where does the electricity come from and where does it go? How does it make the light work?

That's the one I'm trying to guide you through. Consider how the system works. Start at the outlet; the source of the electricity. Look at the diagram. Follow the electricity. Describe where it goes and what happens at each node. First it travels through the power cord and arrives at the on/off switch. What happens there? and so forth.
