OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you rationalize a square root in a denominator?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

just multiply numerator and denominator by the denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply it by a value of 1 or by the square root over the square root. 1/square root 2 x square root 2/square root 2

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

e.g.:\[\frac{3}{\sqrt{2}}=\frac{3}{\sqrt{2}}*\frac{\sqrt{2}}{\sqrt{2}}=\frac{3\sqrt{2}}{2}\]
