What is the difference between a source and evidence?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A source is "a firsthand document or primary reference work" (merriam-webster.com). [The place you got your information from]. Ex. in speech - "I just gave a source for my definition." "My source for the definition of evidence is from merriam-webster.com also. The definition for evidence is: something that furnishes proof." (m-w.com) Figuring out the difference between evidence and proof is the big trick!
