Is this correct use of the perfect tense? I have aspired to be an engineer ever since I visited the facilities of an engineering firm in seventh grade.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Past perfect tense? because then it would be "had aspired" and you have to continue the sentence in the same way, so it would be "HAD visited"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops sorry, present perfect. I'm just wondering if it is grammatically correct to say the sentence: I have aspired to be an engineer ever since I visited the facilities of an engineering firm in seventh grade. BTW, should "be" be "become"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I think it's okay, and yes "be" should be changed to "become." It sounds better that way. I also think you should insert "the" before seventh grade.
